Patrick Keating is a trial and appellate lawyer with 25 years of practice handling business disputes in state and federal courts and regulatory bodies throughout the United States.  He has resolved conflicts through verdicts, successful motions, and negotiation in hundreds of cases across the spectrum of civil disputes. Many of his cases involve translating complex technologies and transactions into clear and direct factual and legal arguments that can be understood by judges, juries and arbitrators.

Representative Experience:
  • Lead counsel in several pending and anticipated class actions challenging the constitutionality of red light camera ordinances in Illinois and the business practices of private businesses operating in this space.
  • Represents a leading express cargo carrier in injury and wrongful death litigation filed in Illinois
  • Defended a newly formed Trading Group against numerous claims by a competitor in an Arbitration before the CME Group. After a four day hearing the arbitration panel unanimously found in favor of our client.
  • Defended a technology company against false advertising claims asserted by the Federal Trade Commission, resolving the matter quickly and with no fines or adverse decision by the government.
  • Defended a foreign airline against a passenger, a Museum owner, who alleged damage to valuable antiques in his luggage and breach of the contract of carriage. The client prevailed at a bench trial and we successfully defended the verdict on appeal.
  • Prosecuted an accounting malpractice claim for a manufacturing client regarding overlooked deductions.
  • Represented minority shareholders in a successful derivative suit against a majority shareholder for dissipation of corporate assets
  • Revised the Contract of Carriage for a European passenger airline new to the U.S. Market to ensure that the airline’s policies complied with both EU and FAA regulations.
  • Argued matters of first impression on Warsaw Convention interpretation in the US Courts of Appeals for the Second and Ninth Circuits.
